MGO FIXING BOARD
Magnesium Oxide board, the so-call MGO BOARD, is a fibre glass mesh reinforced concrete panel for floor, roof and wall sheathing.
FIRE RATING: A1 rated nonombustible fire resistant.
APPLICATIONS
▪ For floor, roof, wall sheathing installation
▪ Dimensionally stable and Square edges or T&G on long edges
▪ Strong, durable and easy to work with regular wood working tools
▪ Mechanically fastened directly to steel or wood framing joists.
▪ MGO subfloor floor and roof assemblies are designed to carry gravity
and lateral loads.
When Magnesium Oxide board is used as structural subfloor, it can be
covered with vinyl tile, ceramic tiles, hardwood or carpets as finished
floor.
HOW TO CUT
Carbide saw blades are used to cut Magnesium Oxide board with a
circular saw equipped with dust collection system. Wear safety googles,
gloves and a NIOSH approved dust mark when cutting the boards.
HOW TO FIX
MGO boards should be mechanically fixed back to either masonary or steel stud walls, at nominal
300mm fixing centres with 4.8 x 42mm Bi-Metal Drywall Screws (or equivalent).
MGO Boards should never be fixed back to timber battens for this application.
High density mineral fibre insulation should be correctly fitted behind MGO boards in a manner to
protect the wall structure, services within the wall and any wall linings on the opposite side, from the
effects of heat transfer.
Fixing is recommended from the centre of the board working outwards to ensure boards are
hard against the framing and to avoid unevenness.
